Palm Beach Notices--Jupiter, Florida:
Challenge:
How can a company replace a system it depends upon? Palm Beach Notices in
Florida found itself reliant on a failing database system. The existing system
had all their data, and yet seemed sure to break-down completely before a new
system could be developed. It seemed the company could not stay with the
current system, and could not move to a new system either.
Solution:
IDI built new components that were completely compatible with the existing
database, thereby eliminating the need to migrate to a new database. The most
seriously flawed components were replaced first. Gradually, all the components,
except the original database, were replaced. Because all the components were
tied to the same database, the seamless migration provided users the option to
choose between the old components or the new components. In the end, the
company kept it’s data, and replaced the interface, proving that
sometimes you can have it both ways.
Dellew-Pemco Joint Venture--Honolulu, Hawaii
Challenge:
Dellew-Pemco JV won a defense contract to maintain over 2,400 homes, to include
painting, renovation, cleaning, and repairs on Oahu, Hawaii. However, due to
legal delays, the JV was awarded the contract less than 30 days before
commencement. Their database would need to track inventory, purchase orders,
work orders, employees, labor, and generate invoices that would total over
$400,000 monthly. Where would they find a system that could address all these
requirements in less than 30 days?
Solution:
IDI interviewed the project manager to analyze requirements, and created the
system from scratch. The system captured work orders from day one, and other
functionalities were quickly added in the weeks and months that followed. Since
then, the system has tracked millions in labor and inventory for everything
from angle valves to yellow wire nuts across 20 warehouses and offers users
scores of reports that cover every aspect of the operation.
USRider--Lexington, Kentucky
Challenge:
Through its Equestrian Motor Plan, USRider offers the only roadside assistance
program tailored specifically for those who travel with horses. Their
professionally designed Access database worked well at managing member
accounts. However, USRider members had no way to view their account information
online. Moreover, when members did purchase additional services online, USRider
staff had to manually key all the transactions into the Access database.
Moreover, dispatchers relied on a weekly report to confirm enrollment status,
which did not always contain the most recent updates.
Solution:
USRider contracted with Integrated Databases, Inc. to enhance their
members’ experience. Integrated Databases, Inc. built a secure, web-based
account manager that lets members log in securely to view and update their
accounts and to purchase additional services. IDI also built a custom
synchronization component that automatically and securely updates the Access
database when members update their information or purchase services. In
addition, this two-way synchronization ensures that updates made by USRider
employees to the Access database are reflected on the web-based account
manager. Additional web pages allow dispatchers to verify enrollment status
real-time. In the end, people from around the country interact with a robust
web-based solution built on SQL Server 2000 while USRider staff continue to
work productively with their pre-existing Access database. The comprehensive
solution is hosted on IDI's state-of-the-art web servers. By using every
technological efficiency available, USRider is able to keep its internal
overhead low. This, in turn, keeps USRider membership costs the bargain they
are. Check out http://usrider.org/news_8_05.html

Liberty Resources, Inc--Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Challenge:
LRI is the largest center for independent living in Philadelphia, PA. Many of
LRI’s clients employ personal-care attendants, and therefore must file
quarterly and annual tax returns to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the
Federal Government. Manually creating hundreds of these tax returns each
quarter was a huge effort. While LRI outsourced the payroll for these
attendants to ADP, ADP could not provide a feature that would allow LRI to
treat each client as a separate employer, as required by federal regulations.
Solution:
IDI built custom tax return software that retrieved data from the payroll
system to calculate quarterly Unemployment Compensation (PAUC2 and PAUC2A) tax
returns for Pennsylvania, and annual FUTA returns to the IRS. The software
provides the user the ability to review and override individual returns, and
file either electronically or by printed paper. In the end, a tedious and
expensive task that used to take a department and temp accountants more than a
week to complete can done more accurately by one or two people in much less
time. Currently, we are designing an enterprise-wide database to support LRI's
robust business process management (BPM) initiative.
AMPCO--Honolulu, Hawaii
Challenge:
Track every taxi driver and vehicle dispatched through one of the busiest
airports in the Pacific using hand-held devices running Windows CE and barcode
technology. Ensure that every driver has a valid license, is insured, is
registered to service the airport, and whose vehicle is safe and clean.
Solution:
In less than six weeks, Integrated Databases built a point-of-sale system from
scratch that helps ensure that every vehicle and driver that services the
airport is fully qualified. In phase two, dispatchers at the curb and in the
parking lots scan tickets and ID badges right into the database, along with a
bundle of time stamped records that record volumes of detailed data about every
driver's wait times and experience at the airport. Never before has the state
of Hawaii had such assurance that the drivers who pick up the tourist meet all
requirements.
Building Inspection Company-- Southampton, Pennsylvania
Challenge:
Calculate the amount of money required to maintain a ten-story apartment
building over the next 20 years. Then scale up the system to track 60 unique
housing projects.
Solution:
BISCO contacted Integrated Databases after they won a contract to inspect 60
public housing projects spread across the state of Hawaii. Integrated Databases
built a powerful and flexible system that allows the inspectors to track every
cost variable in the projects, from the length of the sidewalks to the roof
area, from the size of each door to the number of kitchen sinks. Every item in
the buildings that would need maintenance in the next 20 years had to be
counted. BISCO provided the formulas to do the cost calculations, and
Integrated Databases put the CPU's to work, generating reports for the
Department of Housing and Urban Development that typically filled 100 plus
pages for each project with charts, graphs and tables which provided the
government the detailed cost analysis needed for long-term budget planning.
